This past weekend Damon and I drove down to the Keys to meet up with Theresa & her friends from Mississippi for a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend. Theresa & friends rented a house and had extra room so invited us to join the party. We are so appreciative of the invite because we had a WONDERFUL time! We started our journey on Friday afternoon, by finding out that everyone at work was allowed to go home at 3pm (with pay!) - our director is calling it "soft Fridays" to help with office moral! - Yay! Damon came and picked me up with the girls (Kayla & Saydi) and we drove down to my parent's house in SFL. We joined my parents, grandparents, April & the boys, and Casey for pizza dinner. The next morning we woke up at 5:30 am and drove to the Keys. We made excellent time and got in town just as the MS clan was finishing breakfast. It was a fun day walking around town, shopping, going to the beach, and hanging out in the pool. That night while the rest of the group went on a Booze Cruise (which we skipped due to my bad motion sickness and inability to take advantage of the booze) Damon and I walked around Key West in hopes of grabbing dinner. Unfortunately, we ran into many situations that prevented us from successfully dining out and before we knew it the MS kids were back from their excursion. Although Damon and I were hungry, tired, and frustrated due to our eventful evening of not finding dining, it worked out perfectly because we were able to meet up with our friends at a great restaurant that was able to seat a party of 12 without a hint of a wait! How about that for good service! That evening we jumped back into the pool and stayed up chatting. The next day we wandered the town again hitting some historical sites such as Hemingway's house and grabbed lunch at Hogs breath Saloon. The crew was tired of going out, so that evening we decided to BBQ at the house. There was a grill and patio upstairs on the roof and so as a thank you Damon and I hosted dinner and played grill master! We had burgers, sausage, and hot dogs and it was fantastic. Afterwards we jumped back into the pool and watched the Magic kick some Cavalier butt (to the dismay of most of our MS friends)! The next morning we headed back to SFL to pick up the pups and then back up to O-town. It took almost a whole day of travel, 9a-9p due to rain, holiday traffic, a few turn arounds, and a couple of road troubles (not our own thank goodness), but we made it home safe. We are so thankful that we had the opportunity for such a wonderful and relaxing trip and hope to have more like it in the future. Special thanks to Theresa & Chris and the rest of the MS crew for making it such a great vacation!
