Baby Shower

08.19.2009
This past Saturday, one of my high school best friends, Kelly, went above and beyond the call of duty to throw me a wonderful baby shower. She did an amazing job coordinating the day all by herself. She used rubber duckies as her theme and had them incorporated in everything...even the bathroom had swimming ducks!

She made a wonderful spread of food and delicious non-alcoholic drinks. It was so nice to have my closest friends and family in town. We had about 15 people attend and over half had to travel from out of town. It really made me feel special to have everyone take time out of their schedules to help me prepare for Baby Regan!

The most special moment of the shower though was when Kelly brought out the last gift. She had asked Damon to write a letter to the baby and then she framed it with some pictures of him when he was a child (hence the random childhood pictures I found last week for Flashback Friday...lol). It was amazing. Damon wrote the sweetest letter I have ever heard welcoming the baby and expressing how much he loved me. I was bawling...and that may even be an understatement. Almost everyone in the room had tears in their eyes - well, except for my little sister and her best friend (which has been a family friend for about 20 years, so basically another little sister) - who were cracking up at how much I was crying.

Overall, it was a wonderful day and I can't thank Kelly enough! And I feel so grateful for the generosity of my friends and family who certainly spoiled our family with all the helpful gifts. We are pretty much ready for Baby Regan to arrive...now all we have to do is count down 6 more weeks!
