I typically don't do 2 posts in 1 day...heck, right now I'm lucky if I get 2 posts a week...but I took this picture this morning and fell in love with it, so I didn't want to wait to post it. I was talking shop with my friend Sarah (who is a photographer) and after commenting on her amazing work I asked about techniques she uses to make the eyes pop. She reminded me of the importance of catch light, a key to photographing people (which I had focused on in the past, but somehow lost sight of in my more recent shoots). I feel like I was concentrating on so many other aspects of taking a good picture that I forgot this basic principle. I am so thankful that she reminded me...because it truly takes a picture from good to great.
So this morning Brodie volunteered to model for me for about 5 minutes (before getting fussy) so I could practice. I got a couple of cute pictures, but this is my FAVORITE!!! I feel like it truly captures what he looks like as well as a glimpse of his personality. I hope you enjoy..I'm sure I'll have more to post soon as long as Brodie puts up with me taking pictures of him : )
